Iditarod 1000km husky race in Alaska
Description:

The Iditarod is a race across the stunningly beautiful but often desolate Alaska - from Anchorage, in south central Alaska, to Nome on the western Bering Sea coast. It is regarded by some as the toughest race in the world and has been called 'The Last Great Race'.

Each team of 12 to 16 dogs and their musher cover over 1150 miles in 10 to 17 days, carrying all the required food and equipment for the race. Mushers must navigate from checkpoint to checkpoint through challenging terrain, whilst looking after their dogs and shielding themselves as best as possible from the bitter winds and icey temperatures.
Mushers must have some experience to enter the race and must adequately compete one of several mushing qualifying races to be offered a place.
