24hr Bike Hire Challenge
Description:

On 3rd September 2010 two intrepid Londoners became the first ever people to cycle around all the London 'Boris' bike hire docking stations in 24hrs. Here are some of the stats:
73 miles...distance as the crow flies
100 miles...distance we will cycle (at the very least)
c400...docking stations docked at
7:12mins...max time allowed between each station
23kg...weight of a Barclays Cycle
£1,500...raised for the Frank Water Projects Charity
The challenge started at 6am at Smith Square in Westminster and ended successfully in 20 hours and 32 minutes.
It was a very difficult challenge. The weight of the bikes and the sheer time needed without sleep meant it was a bit of an epic! Several keys were needed by each rider to prevent time wasted at each docking station. However, the support was excellent with friends, family and plenty of randoms cycling sections with the team or cheering them on from the streets. The guys even made it on to TV!
Since this challenge, more docking stations have been added so for anyone repeating the challenge there is the lure of doing more than the guys did last time and the threat of squeezing ever closer to the 24hr deadline.
The organisers of last year's challenge aim to make this an annual event, so post comments on this page if you're up for trying it this year.
We are also proud to say that this was the first ever challenge sponsored by Findmeachallenge.com. We hope there will be many more.
